The app not working

It was working great but for some in reason today the app wont even open.

Piece of crap

The app crashes and if you are without a physical key you are screwed and locked out of your house. I paid too much for this lock not to work with the app. Do not buy.

Frequently crashes

Frequently crashes and doesnt recognize phone or fob way too many times. Using hard copy is definitely quickest and easiest form of using this lock.

Serious app issues defeat purpose of this lock

Right now your app is completely down. Im away for the weekend and my dogs are locked in my house because the dog sitter cant get in. The defeats the entire purpose of using this lock service and I have never been more disappointed in a product.

Crash

App keeps crashing!!!! Cant log in

My god, could you imagine how awesome itd be if it just worked?

Update: at this point, Ive read enough, experienced enough, and been frustrated enough (particularly after tonights outage which resulted in a lockout of my family and an email from the company to all users) to seriously consider a formal complaint and possibly even legal action against Kwikset over the false claims associated with this product. There are many, many, MANY users affected and the problems are consistent. Bullet points are easier: -Gateway connectivity is horrible. Hit or miss, no matter how good the reception (mine is 15 feet away). Costs a lot for very little benefit. I have ZERO confidence that the lock is armed or disarmed when Im not physically staring at it. Add to this the fact that it takes FOREVER to work (if it does), and you see my point. -Without the gateway, connectivity is still horrible. Try locking the door from five feet away. Often takes 3-4 minutes of it works at all. -Another product I have that relies on a gateway is my MyQ garage door opener. Its freaking amazing. It just works, and it does so quickly every single time. They have the advantage of not relying on Bluetooth, however, which is how Kwikset shouldve designed this lock. Bluetooth for those without gateways and for entering/exiting with phones, proprietary radio for gateway or entering/exiting with fob. Should be perfect, foolproof, AWESOME, like my cars smart keys. -The freaking thing activates for no reason when I open my door. Im not touching the lock, and the antenna wire isnt damaged at all. Perfect installation, fresh batteries, random locking. People have even collided the deadbolt with the door frame as a result. Great. First a garbage product, now damage to my home. -The latest version of the app crashes when I try and enter preferences. Going to try a reinstall. Jesus Christ, they cant even get that right. -Gotta love touching the lock and seeing no activity whatsoever. No lights. Fresh batteries, app running, phone near... nothing. Crickets. In fact, actual crickets would likely engineer a better lock. Damnit, I really wanted this thing to work. So frustrated and grossed out.

Epic fail on April 9, 2016

Yesterday, the Kevo app experienced a "service degradation" according to an email from Kwikset. It was nowhere near a degradation, it was a total fail. The app would load and immediately crash. This was the first, hopefully only, time in over a year that Ive had the lock, but it meant I could not lock/unlock my door, basically the only thing it does of importance to me. The website FAQ says an Internet connection is not needed to lock/unlock the door, but that appears to be untrue. A door lock mechanism cannot fail, not even once, and if the phone and lock set are working well (they were) there should never be an inability to perform the most basic design function. This apparently means less to the mfr. than to me, given their response. This coupled with the many and real problems noted by others, renders this a weak solution to a non-problem (lock/unlock a door). "IoT" = a lot less than meets the eye.

One major flaw

When it works....it works well Constantly have to force close app to get an accurate locked/unlocked status

So want this to work better than it does

The lock opens about every second touch - that I can deal with. The fact that the app eats about a quarter of my battery is ridiculous. My wifes phone wont make it brought the day with kevo. I want to turn off the background setting hidden away in the kevo preferences but the app just crashes every time I try. Its a bit crap really. Hoping you fix your software soon.

redownload the app

I’ve owned this lock for about 3 months now. I’ve read a lot of reviews, most negative. Most problems can be eliminated by redownloading the app. Setting up the app and calibration properly is crucial. I initial lve had most of the same problems, but after re-reading the instructions, and recalibrating the devices properly, i’ve gotten it to work 100% of the time as advertised. Just disappointed that there isn’t a Apple Watch app or I would give it 5 stars.

Good App

Overall nice...still needs to work out a couple kinks

Great alternative to the traditional

My Kevo works pretty good so far. I do have a few complaints however so its by no means perfect. On the upside Ive had it a year now and I love the fact that I dont have to fumble with keys in the dark or while holding groceries. And it is pretty reliable. The downside is I sometimes have to double or even triple tap it to make it work. I do recommend this system but be prepared for its finickiness.

Not really that easy

Every time I need to open the door, regardless, I have to open the app otherwise it wont work. It doesnt work even if its running in the background

App needs help

Fobs and some ekeys not recorded in history. App crashes when tapping preferences. No way to force a Kevo gateway refresh to really see if your door is locked or not. Contacting there support is aggravating. Sent detailed explanation on issue with all the steps I took to try and resolve the crashing app issue. The response back was a list of things to do that I stated in my initial ticket request. I responded back and they again sent me the same list. No support at all.

Works most of the time

Usually works but sometimes I have to reopen the app to get it to unlock the lock. Quite annoying. IOS 6 could be the problem but it is definitely a problem. Really unreliable experience.

Kevo with Kevo Plus

Ive had Kevo now for a year. I agree its a love/hate relationship. Love: No monthly fee to unlock or lock my house from my smart phone (anywhere - I own Kevo plus) Kevo has a simple interface, no networking knowledge needed to set it up. From the outside the lock looks like any lock you buy at Lowes or Home Depot Battery life is good for the system Cons: ekeys require guests to have Kevo accounts. ekeys that last past 24hours are at a charge. The touch feature on the lock sometimes acts "crazy," own one and you will know what Im talking about. Battery life for fobs isnt that great and fobs are cheap plastic. Deadbolt metal is low end. Kevo Plus worked great for the first month but then errors periodically. Pros: Battery life, Kevo plus, no monthly bill! All and all I like the system and do recommend it but they need to work on the entire system

Horrible

Wow. Pathetic. I have to feed a friends dogs. I cant even accept the key. The death of the dogs is on your hands you incompetent idiots.

Pretty but hardly ever functional

Terrible app due to the fact that it takes ages to connect and often fails to unlock after a considerable delay citing an out of range error despite my phone being inches from the lock (with fresh batteries). You can take your keys out and unlock 10x faster than this app will do it (or the lock itself via touch).

Works for me

Lot of haters on these reviews. Its great. Has worked perfectly for the apt.

Love love love

Tech geek with kids. Opening the door without my key is priceless
