Kevo App Reviews

Read online reviews, looked at units in store and finally decided that this was the best for the price and features. The Schlage requires a specific hub (for remote use) and I currently use an Insteon hub, so no need for another one. The August was HUGE on the inside of the door and just plain ugly. Also had a lot of bad reviews for being slow with a weak motor. The Kevo looked great, was easy to install and get going the app is smooth and easy. The Kevo plus remote feature is a simple upgrade through Kwikset and is a dedicated device that connects to your router. Thumbs up and great pick.

We originally had issues with the KEVO lock we purchased at Lowes. It would kill a set of batteries in a matter of weeks, when the box said they should last for a year. I contacted KEVO customer service and they sent me out a new lock to replace the faulty one. This one has operated exactly as advertised. Weve had it on the house for nearly a year and were on the same set of Duracell batteries I installed when I put it in service.

Ive had my Kevo for roughly one year now. There was only one incident where the lock wouldnt unlock for a 10 minute period of time where I thought I was going to have to call a lock smith. Given Ive accessed my house over 365 times with only 1 scare, the hardware is good to say the least. My complaint comes with the app. When I was using the lock every day when I first got it, I could simply have the app running in the background of my phone, phone in my pocket & unlock/lock my deadbolt. To be honest I went a period of time without replacing the batteries and just recently did because I thought the convenience would be nice to have again, only to find since then there must have been some updates because now the lock will only work with my phone open and the app opened. This COMPLETELY ruins the convenience factor of paying 2-3x the typical deadbolt. I purchased this so I didnt have to take anything out of my pocket. This actually makes it more inconvenient than a regular deadbolt. Instead of the old fashioned way; hand in pocket, grab key, stick key in and turn. I now have to grab phone out of my pocket, unlock my phone, double click to find the app running, select the app then touch the deadbolt. So I thought to myself, there must be a setting to allow the convenience of keeping my phone in my pocket and accessing my lock like I used to when I first purchased this two years ago. Go to the setting icon next to my name, try to select Preferences & boom: app crashes. Yes Ive tried deleting, re-downloading & entering my credentials with no luck. Needless to say this app has completely ruined a good piece of hardware. I will be buying the more advanced competitor that has a keypad built in and allows me to unlock/lock remotely for guests. If I was only reviewing an app this would receive 1 star, however I gave it 3 because of the hardware.

I use it for the shop at work and its sweet!

Love the new lock, but this app has drained 12% of my battery in the last 24 hours due to running in the background. Thats quite excessive.
